Burger King reopens in Rice Lake
The newly constructed Burger King restaurant and playground at 1130 S. Main St., Rice Lake, is now open with regular hours of 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day of the week with in-house or drive-through options. General manager Chris Haws said six of the original employees remain on his expanded staff of 31 employees. The staff had a "soft sell" or quiet opening that started Sept. 26, and they are now ready to serve the same flame-grilled tastes the franchise has been serving since 1954. According to local historian Larry Quinn, Burger King originally opened in Rice Lake on May 30, 1990. To make way for it, the Hagen Motel was torn down on Dec. 6, 1989.
