Henley Middle Schoolers learn about science outside of the classroom walls
KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore.- Seventh grade students from Henley Middle School got to go outside the classroom walls for a science lesson this week. Over 200 students visited Lakeside Farms to learn about how the farm help to revitalize ecosystems in the Klamath Basin. Students explored a sucker nursery pond, search for different species of birds, and even got in close with a Peregrine Falcon. Henley Middle School Principal Kristine Creed says the trip gave the students the opportunity for a real-world investigation on how science can be used to solve local issues.
MAZAMA, HENLEY TO OFFER MEDICAL ASSISTANT PRE-APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
Klamath County School District will offer a new medical assistant pre-apprenticeship program at Mazama and Henley high schools starting in the 2024-25 school year. The new program partners with Sky Lakes Medical Center to provide students with a full year of medical assistant college-level courses. Lauren Lorenz teaches CTE (career and technical education) health occupation courses at Mazama High School and will be teaching the medical assistant pre-apprenticeship course there next year.
KCSD schools dismissing 3.5 hours early today
All Klamath County School District schools will dismiss students 3-1/2 hours early today, Feb. 29, 2024, due to inclement weather and the incoming storm system. Buses will arrive at their home drop-off stops 3-1/2 hours earlier than their regular time. Students will not have time to eat lunch before dismissal. Falcon Heights afternoon session is canceled.
