Arickaree’s girls basketball team enters the final week of the regular season sitting in good shape for the postseason. The Bison are 10-6, going 3-2 in the YWKC, with a game today, February 15, at Kiowa, then a home game Friday against Miami-Yoder. They then have the Class 1A District 5 Tournament next week. Arickaree is No. 15 in the 1A CHSAA Selection & Seeding Index, which will determine the regional pairings after district.

The Arickaree girls basketball team keeps playing its way toward a postseason berth. The Bison entered this week 8-4 overall, and No. 13 in the Class 1A CHSAA Selection & Seeding Index. They took a four-game winning streak into this past Tuesday’s game at Lone Star, and had won five of six since returning to action after the Christmas break. They host Idalia on Friday in a big game before taking a break for the YWKC Junior High Tournament.

The Arickaree boys basketball team still is undefeated as it heads into the second weekend of 2024. The Bison are 8-0 after two wins last week, and are No. 4 in the CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index for Class 1A. The Index will be used to seed the postseason field.

The Otis High School football team will have its work cut out in maintaining a top-three seed for the 6-man playoffs. The Bulldogs had last weekend off as Flagler did not field a team this season. They now close out the regular season Friday at Peetz. Otis, 7-1, is No. 3 in the CHSAA Selection & Seeding and Peetz, 7-1, is No. 11.

It’s officially high school football playoff time. The Arickaree and Otis football teams have had successful runs through the regular season, each finishing with a 7-2 record. The Bison tied for second in the league with Genoa-Hugo, while the Bulldogs placed fourth in league standings. Stratton cruised to a league championship, and also locked up the top seed in the 6-Man playoff bracket.

Now the Otis High School football team has some time to prepare for the postseason. The Bulldogs concluded the regular season last Friday with a 75-28 win over Walsh in a non-league game played at a neutral location. They are 7-2 overall, and went 3-2 in A-6 League 2. Next...

The Arickaree Bison celebrated their first Homecoming under their new mascot last Friday night. The Lady Bison volleyball team fought hard against the #10 Lady Bulldogs of Otis, but came up just short. In the football game, #4 Arickaree took on #3 Otis and came away with a big 52-33 win. During halftime f the football game, Arickaree presented their Homecoming royalty.
