Sumrall baseball's Landon Hawkins blanks Ripley, USM signee Ty Long in MHSAA Class 4A championship
PEARL — It doesn't matter how state titles come for Sumrall baseball coach Andy Davis. Leaving Trustmark Park with first-place hardware is just as good as any. Sumrall (34-5) won the MHSAA Class 4A state title 2-0 in Game 3 over Ripley (24-12) Saturday. The championship is Sumrall's seventh overall and Davis has been the coach for each one.

Ripley Native Faith Pilkington Excels at UT Martin, Prepares for Law Career at Vanderbilt
Faith Pilkington, a recent graduate from the University of Tennessee at Martin (UT Martin), has completed her studies with significant achievements. Originally from Ripley, she earned degrees in political science and philosophy. Pilkington plans to attend Vanderbilt University Law School in the fall of 2024. She aims to specialize in civil litigation and advocate for those with limited access to legal representation. Pilkington hopes to continue her career in Tennessee, particularly in Nashville.
