Video footage published online captures a weekend landspout tornado on the ground near Eads, Colorado, which is a town of about 700 residents located in the state's Eastern Plains region. According to poster Stefan Klein, the tornado was spotted from 3:26 p.m. to 3:33 p.m. on May 12, though it could have been two separate landspouts given a brief disappearance. The National Weather Service in Pueblo, Colorado, has announced that the Severe Thunderstorm Warning previously issued for Kiowa County is nearing its end, with clearing expected in the next few minutes. The warning, which commenced on May 03 at 05:09 PM MDT, was set to expire five minutes later at 05:15 PM MDT. The storm responsible for the warning has since moved out of the warned area, allowing for the termination of the alert at the scheduled time. The National Weather Service in Pueblo, Colorado, has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Kiowa County effective until May 3rd, 04:30 PM MDT. As of the last update at 4:03 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was detected over Queens Reservoir, approximately 16 miles north of Lamar, and tracking northeast at a speed of 30 mph. The thunderstorm is capable of producing ping pong ball size hail and wind gusts reaching up to 60 mph. Radar data was used to identify the threat. The expected impact includes potential injury to individuals and animals outdoors, along with probable damage to property such as roofs, sidings, windows, and vehicles. The risk of wind damage extends to structures and trees. Key locations that will be affected include Chivington, Brandon, Neeoshe Reservoir, and Neegronda Reservoir amongst others in Kiowa County. Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
