The event attracted students from 22 local schools, who competed in various academic and extracurricular activities. WCJC supported these achievements by offering nearly $100,000 in scholarships to outstanding participants, helping reduce their future educational expenses.

Lamar CISD Leaders and Parents Decide on Rezoning for New Secondary Complex #7
On April 4 and 9, 2024, leaders from Lamar CISD in Rosenberg, Texas, met with the Attendance Boundary Committee (ABC) to plan for the new Secondary Complex #7. This complex will house Gene Tomas High School, Ella Banks Junior High, and Judge “Sandy” Bielstein Middle School. It is scheduled to open for the 2025-2026 school year at 24730 Easton Ramsey Way in Richmond, Texas. The high school will serve students in grades 9-12. The district is growing quickly and uses bond funds to construct new schools.
