COLTS NECK, N.J. — Humble beginnings are rare in golf, and the Hominy Hill Golf Course is no exception. The location, tucked away alongside farms and thick woods along Route 537 in western Monmouth County, exudes an unpretentious calm. The Oldest Racetrack In America Is Threatened in New Jersey. It is a landmark that is 171 years old. Freehold Raceway, which was originally built in 1853 is now under threat of closing. According to Wikipedia, "Freehold Raceway is a half-mile racetrack in Freehold Borough, New Jersey, and is the oldest racetrack in the United States, as well as being the oldest of the three horse racing venues located in New Jersey."

Last October, Ibrahim Alkasimi, who grew up playing and starring in soccer, was in a physical education class at Curtis High School toying with a football. “I was just chilling in my ninth period in physical education class, and I was like you know what let me try to kick a field goal,” said the senior, who was also mulling transferring out of the St. George school at the same time. “I was like, ‘why not right.’ I’m kicking and I’m doing really well. I’m like ‘OK’ and the football players are seeing me kick 30-40-yard field goals and they’re like, ‘Wow! You should join the team.’ "

HOLMDEL, NJ - After dodging rain drops at last week's Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational, Spotswood High School's cross-country teams enjoyed an ideal race day at the 2024 Shore Coaches Invitational at Holmdel Park on Saturday. HOLMDEL, NJ – Finn Valli and Marcus Valenzuela both broke 17 minutes in leading the Chatham boys cross-country team to second place in the Varsity C Race the Shore Coaches Invitational held Saturday at Holmdel Park.In the 29-team field, Chatham posted 79 points, with Ocean City winning the race with 67 points.
