Omaha | Stepped Off the Train and Straight into a Live Band Showdown! 🥁🎼
One of the most famous Chinese restaurants in all of Omaha, 🇺🇸 the most common types of Chinese cuisine here are Sichuan and Cantonese 😂, and this place serves Cantonese. The restaurant is located across from a park, and if you're lucky, you might stumble upon a band performance right as you park. 🏠 Restaurant Name: Golden China Restaurant 📍 Address: 6559 Ames Ave, Omaha, NE 68104 🍃 Environment: Clean and tidy. 🌶️ Stir-fried Tripe with Peppers ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A surprisingly delightful dish with a sweet, salty, and spicy bean sauce. The sauce was plentiful, not dry-fried. Technically, it's not really "tripe strips" as they were cut thicker, but they seemed to have been stewed before frying, making them easy to chew, tender yet slightly resilient. 🌱 Fermented Tofu with Water Spinach ⭐ The flavor was good, but finding a hair in it was off-putting. When I called the staff over, I was very dissatisfied with the handling; no apology, no offer to remake the dish or offer a discount. After returning home, I had stomach issues for two days, likely caused by this dish being unclean. 🍖 Char Siu ⭐⭐⭐ When served, you could tell from the appearance that the sauce wasn't thick enough, making it somewhat dry and bland. It’s a bit far from the delicious char siu I know. 🍖 Roast Pork ⭐⭐⭐ The roast pork performed better than the char siu; it came with granulated sugar, and I suggest cutting it into smaller pieces. 🐙 Summary: It's hard to rate this place. The flavors were passable, and I really liked the Stir-fried Tripe with Peppers, but honestly, my stomach felt upset after eating here, and it was the only meal I had that day. Also, the hair in the food was a definite mishap. The poor customer service and lack of attention to hygiene are major red flags. Cutting corners in food service like this won't keep customers coming back.
