Sumrall baseball's Landon Hawkins blanks Ripley, USM signee Ty Long in MHSAA Class 4A championship
PEARL — It doesn't matter how state titles come for Sumrall baseball coach Andy Davis. Leaving Trustmark Park with first-place hardware is just as good as any. Sumrall (34-5) won the MHSAA Class 4A state title 2-0 in Game 3 over Ripley (24-12) Saturday. The championship is Sumrall's seventh overall and Davis has been the coach for each one.

Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) will host its annual College for Kids program at the Henry County Center from July 23-25, 2024. The program, scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. daily, is open to students in Kindergarten through eighth grade for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) held its 54th annual commencement ceremony on May 4th, led by college president Dr. Scott Cook. The event celebrated the academic achievements of 575 candidates across various fields of study. The DSCC Choir, Vox Civitas, performed during the ceremony, adding to the formal atmosphere.
Summer Learning Opportunity: Dyersburg State's College for Kids Program in Henry County
Dyersburg State will host a summer educational program called College for Kids for K-8 students in Henry County. The program is scheduled to take place at the Henry County Dyersburg State Center from July 23 to July 25, 2024. Ripley Native Faith Pilkington Excels at UT Martin, Prepares for Law Career at Vanderbilt
Faith Pilkington, a recent graduate from the University of Tennessee at Martin (UT Martin), has completed her studies with significant achievements. Originally from Ripley, she earned degrees in political science and philosophy. Pilkington plans to attend Vanderbilt University Law School in the fall of 2024. She aims to specialize in civil litigation and advocate for those with limited access to legal representation. Pilkington hopes to continue her career in Tennessee, particularly in Nashville.
