A home for predators? The secrets of McNeil Island, Washington
Editor's Note: This article has been updated to include recent data and criticism from the Seattle Times. West of Tacoma within the Puget Sound, one island sits relatively abandoned - or at least, it might seem from the outside. Visiting the island is prohibited without special permission, although some urban explorers sometimes seek out an adventure under the cover of darkness. This is McNeil Island, a place with a long history as Washington State's home for "undesirables," convicted criminals who needed to be separated from society.
