Martin, Tenn.–Students who were inducted into the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 127 at the University of Tennessee at Martin on April 9 were (from left) Savannah senior and educational studies major Nicholas Andrews, Kenton senior and computer science major Daniel Cunningham, Tullahoma senior and history major Samantha Wade, Huntingdon senior and biology major Seth Hatchett, Union City junior and mechanical engineering major Sara Ullrich, Grantsburg, Illinois, senior and integrated studies major Maelee Sparks, Gallatin senior and criminal justice major Madison Renee Gray and Buncombe, Illinois, junior and history major Gabrielle Roberts. The primary purpose of Phi Kappa Phi is the recognition and encouragement of superior scholarship and integrity in all academic disciplines. Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 at the University of Maine. In 1900, it became a national honor society through a committee consisting of the presidents of the University of Maine, the University of Tennessee and Pennsylvania State College (now Pennsylvania State University).
