The Williamson Police Department is currently looking for financial help for startup and maintenance costs for a K9 program it plans to reintroduce to the department. Law enforcement officials say police K9s are essential assets to law enforcement, as well as the communities in which the departments serve. Typical roles and duties of K9s include but are not limited to: narcotics detection, search and rescue, and criminal apprehension.
