This is a historic house. Located at 4524 Cottage Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri, it belonged to Homer G. Phillips. This structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 20, 2009.
New subdivision proposed by major park in St. Louis County
ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis-based homebuilder plans a new subdivision with nearly 40 houses next to one of St. Louis County's largest parks. The new subdivision in Maryland Heights called Louiselle Park would consist of 39 houses, according to plans that builder McBride Homes filed with the city. The proposed location borders Creve Coeur Park.
Why do so many old houses in STL have flat roofs?
I’m curious why STL has so many houses with flat roofs. I’m thinking specifically about the 2 bedroom early 1900s little box houses and their duplex counterparts. Chicago has some of these two (especially the two flats), but other cities (New Orleans, Indianapolis, Nashville, Minneapolis) typically have pitched roofs.
