At their April 2 meeting, the Hayward Community School Board voted to change the schedule for the last week of school, just after Memorial Day. The Hayward Hurricanes softball team played two games in the Rice Lake Triangular Saturday April 6, posting a 17-8 win over Altoona and losing 16-1 to Rice Lake. Hayward 8th grade boys play in state tournament
The Hayward eighth grade boys traveling basketball team played in the Wisconsin State Invitational Championship Tournament hosted by Merrill March 23-24. Birchwood school referendum passes
Voters in the Birchwood School District, which includes parts of Barron, Washburn and Sawyer counties, gave their permission for the school to exceed its revenue limit by $2.6 million. HHS student's conservation poster in national contest
Two Hayward High School students showcased their artistic skills by creating a poster with a conservation-based theme for the annual contest sponsored by the Wisconsin Land and Water Conservation Association and Sawyer County Land and Forest Resources Committee. School board approves staff salary increases
At their Monday March 18 meeting, the Hayward Community School Board approved salary and wage increases for teachers and support staff and approved a student transportation contract with Hurricane Busing for the 2024-25 year. The board also approved an increase from the current four days per week for 4-year-old kindergarten students to five days per week for 2024-25.
