Armed suspect barricaded inside of Compton home
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies are engaged in a standoff with an armed suspect in Compton. The barricade began at around 5 p.m. when a man who allegedly has some sort of weapon holed up inside of a home in the 1400 block of 131st Street, according to LASD. Homicide Bureau detectives were already on scene when the department called their Special Enforcement Bureau and Crisis Negotiation Team to the area. Circumstances leading up to what prompted the standoff remain unknown. Several homes in the surrounding area have been evacuated to ensure the safety of residents, deputies said. No further information was provided. Anyone who may know more is asked to contact LASD at (323) 890-5500.
