Wallace State Community College Boosts Athletics with $10,000 Grant for Women's Flag Football
Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama, has received a $10,000 grant from the NJCAA Foundation, in collaboration with NFL FLAG and Reigning Champs Experiences (RCX) Sports. This grant will support the introduction of women's flag football at the college level. It is part of an initiative by the Alabama Community College Conference to promote women's flag football as a competitive sport among its members.
Wallace State Women’s Golf Secures Third Place at NJCAA South District Championship
Wallace State Community College's women's golf team finished third at the NJCAA Women’s South District Championship in Brenham, Texas. They ranked behind Tyler Junior College and Blinn College, the hosts. Tyler Junior College scored +50 to lead, followed by Blinn College at +86, and Wallace State at +98. Other colleges, including Shelton State, Southern Union, Calhoun Community College, Jefferson State, and Snead State, also competed, with scores ranging from +105 to +214. Wallace State golfer Haithcock took third place individually, qualifying for the NJCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship. Local Pride on the Diamond: Wallace State Lions to Battle in ACCC Baseball Tournament
Wallace State Community College's baseball team, the Lions, will compete as the No. 7 seed in the Alabama Community College Conference/National Junior College Athletic Association South District Division I baseball tournament. The tournament starts on May 9 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, AL. The Lions will play against the No. 2 seed, Delgado Community College from New Orleans, at 2 p.m. Coach Randy Putman, who has led the team to the conference tournament nearly every season, will guide them again, except for the COVID-affected year and 2011.

Wallace State's Own Luke Fernandez and Colten Payton Earn Top Honors in ACCC
Wallace State Community College freshman, Luke Fernandez, has been named Pitcher of the Year by the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC). Originally from Cummings, Georgia, Fernandez led the conference with 100 strikeouts, 20 more than any other pitcher. He also ranked first in strikeouts per game, second in innings pitched, and seventh in earned runs, without allowing any home runs during his season with the Lions.

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Hanceville High School Softball hosted an open house to celebrate and show off its new additions to the Rayford Talley Athletic Training Facility Wednesday afternoon. Two indoor nets, a new pitching machine and additions to the field turf have been installed at the indoor training facility and the Bulldogs are excited to get to work with the new upgrades. Assistant coach Roxi Lee is excited to take advantage of the new facility, especially during the rainy spring season. ALBERTVILLE, Ala. – The Vinemont Eagles hit the road to begin their run at this year’s 3A East Regional Tournament at Sand Mountain Park in Albertville and after dropping their first game of the day to Hokes Bluff, they bounced back with a win over Geraldine to keep their season alive.
