Dripping Springs Tigers fall short to New Braunfels Unicorns in Game 3 of Area playoffs
DRIPPING SPRINGS — On Saturday, May 11, the Dripping Springs Tigers Varsity Baseball team traveled to Johnson High School in Buda as a neutral site for the third game in the UIL 6A playoffs against the New Braunfels High School Unicorns. The final score was Unicorns 7, Tigers 6. The Tigers scored four runs in the first inning and the Unicorns chipped away on the Tigers' lead. The Unicorns took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning and after seven regular innings of play, the score was tied at 6. The Tigers were unable to score in the top of the eighth inning and in the bottom of that inning, the Unicorns rallied to have a runner on third. The referee called a balk on the Tiger's pitcher and the Unicorns runner on third scored, leaving the Unicorns to win 7-6. The fans were stunned by the call and Unicorns celebrated their victory. For the first game of the playoffs, the Tigers traveled to New Braunfels High School on Thursday, May 9. The Tigers dropped game one after a lengthy lightning delay; the final score was Unicorns 1, Tigers 0. Game two was played at Tiger Stadium with a large home crowd cheering the team on. Tiger pitcher Cooper Rummel threw a complete game, gave up one hit and had eight strikeouts. The final score was Tigers 4, Unicorns 0. The Tigers finished the season with a record of 25-11. The Tigers have seven seniors and will return a large group of underclassmen.
Drip Lacrosse 2023–2024: a season for the ages
Dripping Springs Lacrosse traveled to Magnolia on Saturday, May 11, to rematch TMI Episcopal in the THSLL Class B State Semi-Finals. Despite a strong start, Drip ultimately fell to TMI, 5-16. TMI went on the next day to win the state final. Humid white-gray clouds magnified the sun as it baked the metal grandstands of Memorial West High School. Dripping Springs Lacrosse advances to state semifinals
On Sunday, May 5, the Dripping Springs Tigers Lacrosse Team defeated Pearland in the Texas High School Lacrosse League Class B Super Regional Tournament. The Tigers advanced to the State Semifinals and will play TMI Episcopal at 2:30 p.m. on May 11 at Magnolia West High School.
Dripping Springs Tigers baseball is Bi-District Champion
DRIPPING SPRINGS — In game three of the series on May 4, the Dripping Springs Tigers Baseball team hosted the Round Rock Cedar Ridge High School Raiders. The final score was 2-1, with the Tigers securing the win. The Raiders quickly scored in the first inning and the Tigers answered with a run in the bottom of the first. Tiger Pitcher Jaxon Conover pitched a complete game and held the Raiders scoreless for the remainder of the game. Conover had zero walks, zero errors and four strikeouts. The Tigers scored again in the bottom of the third inning. The Tigers’ defense went on to hold the Raiders scoreless for the remainder of the game. The final score was Tigers 2, Raiders 1. The Tigers advance in the UIL 6A Area Playoffs and will play the New Braunfels High School Unicorns in game one at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 and then game two will be at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, May 10 at Dripping Springs High School. The Unicorns’ season record is 28-6-1 and the Tigers’ season record is 24-9.
Lacrosse makes history, heads to Final Four
Dripping Springs Lacrosse advanced to the State Semifinals for the first time ever by winning their Super Regional playoff games against Kingwood and Pearland last weekend. Their 17-5 season to date ties the school record for the most wins and sets a new record as the best single season winning percentage in school history. It’s been quite a week for Drip Lacrosse. Dripping Springs Tigers sweep Round Rock Dragons
DRIPPING SPRINGS — The Dripping Springs Tigers softball team swept the series and are now Bi-District Champions following a home game against the Round Rock High School Dragons on Thursday, April 25. The Tigers won game one 6-0 and game two in Round Rock with the final score of 11-1. The Tigers will travel to San Antonio on Thursday, May 2 and play the Samuel Clemens High School Buffaloes for the Area Playoffs at 6 p.m. Game two will be played in Dripping Springs on Friday, May 3 at 5 p.m. and, if needed, game three will be 30 minutes after the second.
Drip lacrosse rockets into super regionals
Dripping Springs Lacrosse swept Central-South district playoff games last weekend against Georgetown and Smithson Valley after vaulting into the playoffs the week prior with a home win against Regents. The junior varsity team also enjoyed their second win of the season against Regents JV, finishing their year on a high note. Hammer Practice Player awardees for the last two weeks have been senior midfielder John Calendar, junior attackman Brady Taylor and senior midfielder Austin Reeves. Vs.
