SOMERSET, NJ—On October 1, 2024, a partnership between the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender (NJOPD), First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, and the prosecutor's offices of Somerset and Middlesex counties brought a "Clean Slate" expungement clinic to Somerset, providing vital legal assistance to over 225 residents, according to a press release. The clinic offered free services aimed at helping eligible residents clear their criminal records. EDISON, NJ - The township council will hear an ordinance to minimize light spilling into residential properties. The council will hold a public hearing and consider adopting the ordinance at Wednesday’s meeting. According to the ordinance, the township has received numerous complaints regarding ‘over-illumination’ at residential properties. The ordinance would prohibit soffit lighting above the height of the first floor on the side yard of any residential dwelling.
