FBI probing possible antisemitic hate crime after Jewish student assaulted by 6 to 8 men at University of Pittsburgh
The FBI and University of Pittsburgh are investigating a possible antisemitic attack against a Jewish student, the second such incident in a month. The unidentified student was walking off campus Friday morning when he was assaulted by a gang of six to eight men, NBC News reported. At least three of the suspects were in their early 20s, authorities said. The FBI has opened its own investigation into the assault to determine whether it met the criteria for a federal hate crime. The latest incident comes after two Jewish students at the university were attacked Aug. 29 by a man with a glass bottle.
