Rails fall to Cumberland, will host Barron Sept. 26
SPOONER — In Heart O’ North Conference volleyball action at Spooner on Thursday night, Sept. 19, the Spooner Rail girls hosted the Cumberland Beavers. Spooner played hard throughout the night, but the Beavers took the HON match 3-1. The Rails are still looking for their first match victory of the season. The Spooner Rails girls will be back on the home court this Thursday, Sept. 26, as they host the current HON Conference-leading Barron Golden Bears. The match will get underway at 7 p.m. in the Spooner High School gym. On Tuesday, Oct. 1, the Rails will go on the road when they visit the St. Croix Falls Saints. That contest will begin at 7 p.m.

SPOONER — On Monday, Sept. 2, the Rolling Hills Snowmobile and ATV Club held its annual picnic at the Railroad Park Pavilion. County Board approves new logo design
SHELL LAKE — The Washburn County Board approved the county’s official new logo at their meeting Tuesday, Sept. 17. At a previous meeting, the logo, which was designed by North of Eight Design, was tabled so the board could tweak it a bit.
