Police seek suspect after Roseville man killed in hit-and-run
(CBS DETROIT) - A 30-year-old Michigan was killed after he was struck by a car in a hit-and-run in Eastpointe on Wednesday, police said.Officers were dispatched to northbound Gratiot near Chestnut after receiving a report of a man lying in the middle of Gratiot. When they arrived, they found the man, identified as a 30-year-old from Roseville, lying between the middle and right lanes of traffic. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation revealed that the man was walking across Gratiot when a silver four-door sedan hit him. The suspect vehicle stopped briefly, but once the driver realized he had hit someone, he drove away from the scene, according to police.The car has apparent damage to its front and top of the hood from the incident.Police say the suspect vehicle is possibly a 2010-2015 model Honda Accord.Anyone with information about this crime or the suspect involved is asked to contact Eastpointe Det. Teen charged in L'Anse Creuse High School threat
(CBS DETROIT) - A 14-year-old Clinton Township girl remains in a juvenile center in connection with a threatening email sent to L'Anse Creuse High School.The teen is charged with making a threat of terrorism, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office. She was arraigned and was denied bond and ordered to complete a mental health evaluation."I want to make it clear that we have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to school threats. This senseless act not only disrupts the lives of students, staff, and the community, but it can have serious, lasting consequences. A single decision made in haste can affect the rest of your life, legally and personally," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in a statement.On Sept. 23, school administrators received an email about a potential threat, leading to an early dismissal. The Macomb County Sheriff's Office later confirmed that a juvenile was in custody and an investigation was ongoing.A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Oct. 3.
19-year-old dies after losing control, striking tree on Detroit freeway
(CBS DETROIT) - A 19-year-old died early Thursday after losing control and crashing his car into a tree on the Lodge Freeway in Detroit, police said.The incident happened at 12:40 a.m. on northbound M-10 at I-94. State police say they began receiving calls reporting a one-car crash, and when troopers arrived at the scene, they found a 19-year-old from Battle Creek unresponsive and with no pulse. He was pronounced dead at the scene. They learned that the man lost control of his Nissan Altima, went up the embankment and hit a tree. The victim's family has been notified. The cases pends
