McPherson County celebration of education with events Friday
MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson County All Schools Day has its full day of activities on Friday, May 10. "McPherson County All Schools Day started in 1914," said 2024 chairman Kyler Jost. "This is actually the 111th. It started originally as a celebration for eighth graders within the county, to basically celebrate, in most cases, that they were done with their education. In 1914, a lot of McPherson County students didn't go on to high school. That was kind of the end of a lot of their educational journeys. This was a way for them to be celebrated."

SALINE COUNTY — Misty Livingston-Holmes has lived most of her life in her subdivision northwest of Salina. She loved growing up there, and after leaving home for a few years, she moved back to take care of her grandmother in her old age. Much of her family has lived in the modest neighborhood of mobile homes.
