Rogue X’s first combat sports event for a bigger cause
MEDFORD, Ore. – On Saturday, Rogue X will be hosting its first combat sports event, with an amateur boxing fight night, and it’s for a bigger cause. The Fighting the Good Fight event will feature Olympic-style amateur boxing bouts. It’ll be a family-friendly event, put on by Spartan Boxing gym in Medford. It’ll feature young fighters from eight years old, to some competitors in their 50’s. Spartan boxing founder, Troy Wohosky said he’s proud being able to organize the event to showcase that it’s not about aggression and violence,
Rogue Valley Chorale Children’s Chorus auditioning now
ROGUE VALLEY, Ore — The Rogue Valley Chorale started creating beautiful choral music in Southern Oregon and sharing it with the world over 50 years ago. Ten years after its inception, their Children’s Chorus followed suit. As the Children’s Chorus enters its 43rd year, director Gerry Flock joined Sunrise to talk to Emily Storm about the energy the kids bring to the program, and what they can expect at auditions.
Pickleball Fest 2024 kicks off this weekend in Medford
MEDFORD, Ore. -Toasty outdoor temperatures didn’t stop the fun at Medford Rogue Rotary’s 4th annual Pickleball Fest. Friday at Fichtner-Mainwaring park, it was nonstop women’s doubles. Both local and out-of-state players were here to battle it out on the court. Players register online, self-rank their skill level, and are broken up into categories. The tournament lasts all weekend, with mixed doubles on Saturday, then the men’s competition on Sunday. Players must win multiple games to make it to the playoff round, then they compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals.
Jeff Golden on Talent power outages ahead of Pacific Power president visit
JACKSON COUNTY, Ore.- Talent has lost power more than 40 times this year, and next week, Pacific Power’s president is visiting to listen to the community. Jackson County State Senator, Jeff Golden, says the unreliable power outages are “terrible and unacceptable,” with outages ranging from one to almost 24 hours long in 100 degree temperatures.
