The roster and coaching staff for Team USA in CanAm Bowl XXVI was released. This is a 6-Man All-Star football game between the USA and Canada. For the first time, the game will be played in Wyoming. It is on July 6, 2024, in Meeteetse, WY. The kick-off is at 2 p.m. Team USA has some of the best 6-man football players from Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, Texas, and Wyoming.

Casper, WY March 4th, 2024 — The Southeast Cyclones took home the Consolation prize in the 2024 State Basketball Tournament in Casper, WY over the weekend. The Cyclones handled the Meeteetse Longhorns in the 1A Boys Consolation Championship, 46-37. Ayden Desmond led the Cyclones with 26 points, and the Junior surpassed 1,000 career points in the game.

The Huskies continue to move forward as they completed the ninth week of the basketball season with two wins and a loss. “Steps in the right direction was the theme of our week,” said Coach Kirby Winland. “All week during practice and during games, we saw the team making progress and taking steps in the right direction.”

It was an intense matchup against Meeteetse for the Burlington Huskies on Friday. Jordan Michaels hit a three for the game’s first points, but Meeteetse rallied and led 17-6 after one. “We came out and allowed their shooters too many open looks and as the famous saying goes ‘hand down, man down,’” said Coach Kirby Winland.

The Rocky Mountain Lady Grizz wrapped up the regular season with a sweep at Meeteetse Tuesday afternoon, winning the ‘A’ game 25-20 and the ‘B’ contest 20-8. With A coach Doug Arnold out of town, Taylor Winland coached the A team and Julie Winland handled the B squad, Taylor Winland said.

The Burlington Lady Huskies hit a snag in Meeteetse Thursday night, losing in four games by scores of 16-25, 14-25, 25-16, 23-25. “These girls like to keep us on our toes!” said Coach Erin Bassett. “About the time I get comfortable with our progress, they throw me a curve ball, like our game in Meeteetse.

Both the seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams finished third in their respective conference tournaments last weekend. The eighth grade Buffs competed in Meeteetse where they opened action Saturday playing Ten Sleep. They tossed the Pioneers in two sets, which propelled them into the semi-finals to face Burlington. The Buffs played well in the opening set but still lost. They played even better in the second set and won it, so whether they made the championship match all depended on the third set. “Unfortunately,” coach Sean Patrick said, “we couldn’t hold ourselves together and ended up with the loss.” The Buffs played Meeteetse in the game to determine third place and defeated the Pioneers in two sets. “We ended the season on a positive note,” said Patrick. “We definitely had our ups and downs, lots of drama, but I feel like our team came out the other side better in volleyball and maybe even a little better in life and how to deal with so many things all at once.” In closing, Patrick said he was satisfied with the way the team ended this year. “We know there’s always room for improvement!” he said, and thanked his athletes for a “great season of middle school volleyball.” Seventh grade results The seventh grade netters went into the Big Horn Conference Tournament as the top seed and drew a bye in the opening round. The young Buffs met Shoshoni in their first game and fell to the fourth seed in three sets, sandwiching a win in the second with losses in the first and third. The loss sent them into the match for third and fourth against Rocky Mountain. They captured third place, winning the first and third sets after losing the second. Coach Lupe Murdoch said her team had “an incredible season” which they ended with a 15-1 record. She praised her athletes’ hard work and determination. The tournament losses, she said, were due to “missed serves, silly mistakes, (and) passing.” Her team took the loss hard, but Murdoch said, “The girls should be so proud. They improved so much this season…and I am so proud of them and am so honored I got to coach them this year.” Members of the team included Reagan Vigil, Bonnie Rhodes, Joey Boyer, Lilliann Otto, Josey Whaley, Lovely Araiza, Josie Collingwood, Ella Keisel, Kaylee Cervantes, Makinli Mowery, Wendy Garcia and Myka Baker.

Dubois improved to 3-2 on the year in 1A 6-Man football with an 88-41 win over Meeteetse on Thursday night. Wyatt Trembly of Dubois had a game to remember as he carried the ball 14 times for a whopping 359 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns. You don't see eye-popping numbers like that very often. Except when it comes to Mr. Trembly who has recorded a 294-yard rushing game vs. Hulett this season and 246 yards on the ground vs. Farson-Eden. A year ago, he rang up 2502 yards running the football with a 354-yard game and a 350-yard rushing game.

The stormy weather broke long enough for a good game in Burlington on Friday. The Huskies bested Meeteetse in their Homecoming game. “Meeteetse is always an exciting game for us. They are well coached and have some good athletes. I thought our guys played pretty well. We are starting to see some more players coming along,” said Coach Trent Aagard. “Joe Bassett did a good job setting a physical tone, Jordan Michaels was able to put up a lot of yards and Weston Gotfredson was able to get behind their defense for some big plays. We had a lot of guys contribute.”

Dubois has put together a strong football season in the 1A 6-Man football and really came to play in their opening-round playoff win over Meeteetse on Saturday 78-14. Dubois led 24-14 after one-quarter of play and exploded for 40 points in the 2nd quarter. Rams super running back Wyatt Trembly continues his super season as he rang up 276 yards on 21 carries with 6 touchdowns. Dubois as a team ran for 453 yards averaging just over 11 yards per carry. Trembly was also in a dozen tackles with Clayton Rux recording 15 total tackles.
