Mass. man sentenced to prison for hate crime after hitting man with car
A Quincy man was sentenced to prison after he hit a man with his car multiple times and yelled at a group of people, including children, threatening to kill them. John Sullivan, 78, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper to 18 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, according to acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy’s office. In April 2024, Sullivan pleaded guilty to one count of violating the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act.
