Broward School System: A Target for State Takeover?
The State of Florida is considering options, including taking over the Broward School System. The Florida Board of Education has found probable cause that the Broward School District failed to comply with state law, stating it owes about $80 million from a 2018 referendum to charter schools. The board gave the district until its next meeting on April 17, 2024, to comply.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas Football Prepares For New Season With Spring Game
The Marjory Stoneman Douglas football team continued their prep for the new season and played in their first spring game on May 17. The Eagles lost 48-0 against Somerset Canyons but had several players make their varsity debut. First-year coach Chris Baldwin leads the Eagles, coming off a season where they went 4-7.
Suspended Monarch High administrators cleared in trans athlete probe
FORT LAUDERDALE - The principal, assistant principal, and athletic director of Monarch High School in Coconut Creek are back at work after being cleared in an investigation involving a trans athlete at the school. Principal James Cecil, Assistant Principal Kenneth May, and Athletic Director Dione Hester were temporarily suspended or re-assigned last November pending the outcome of the investigation as to whether they violated a 2021 state law by allowing a trans athlete to play on the girls' varsity volleyball team.
