1 person dead after shooting outside Wawa in Delaware County
A woman is dead after a shooting took place outside a Wawa in Delaware County on Saturday.It happened just before 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the store along the 900 block of McDade Boulevard in Collingdale, Pennsylvania.At the scene, police say they found the gunshot victim, who was pronounced dead a short time later.Her identity has not yet been released. The Action Cam did capture what appeared to be the victim's loved ones at the scene.Authorities say a confrontation in the parking lot may have been what sparked the deadly shooting.According to investigators, a person of interest was being questioned by police after the incident.No further information has been released on this person.Action News spoke with several neighbors at the scene, who said they were shocked to see gun violence in a typically quiet neighborhood."It's kind of strange to have this kind of thing happen out here, especially around this neighborhood," said resident Rickey Hanks. "The most noise I get is a train every five hours. Very sad, and you know, all the best to the family."Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the police.
Hero officer pulls man from burning car after crash in Delaware County
An officer is being hailed as a hero for pulling a man from a burning car early Friday morning.It happened around 5 a.m. at the intersection of S State Road and Collins Drive in Springfield Township, Delaware County.Police say the driver lost control and hit a pole before the vehicle went up in flames."I commend this officer. My son was unconscious. He could have died," said the victim's mother, Katherine Templeton.Katherine's son, Peter, was rushed to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where he's listed in critical condition."He had a fractured femur, fractured ribs. He also has some internal bleeding, which is minor at this time, but they're keeping an eye on him," Katherine said.Further details on the crash have not been released.The officer suffered minor injuries during the rescue.Katherine says her son is alert and talking but will have to undergo several surgeries.
