Fourth Generation Takes Over Bellefonte Restaurant
BELLEFONTE — Bonfatto’s Italian Market & Corner Café recently announced that third-generation owners David and Sherri Letterman had transferred ownership of the business to their daughter, Michele Shaffer. Opened in 1919 by Guy and Pauline Bonfatto, the 105-year-old business is known for its subs, coffee, pastries, market and more. The original owners passed the restaurant to John and Fran Bonfatto. John is credited for the creation in 1958 of the Bonanza Sub, a staple still today. The Lettermans took over in 1990, and Shaffer served as the manager before stepping into the role of owner. She is the first female sole owner of the business. “This is such an exciting and meaningful time for our family,” Dave Letterman shared in a press release. “I am eager to watch Michele take this leadership role and to support her as she ushers Bonfatto’s into the future.” With the changes in ownership, the restaurant notes that no major changes are planned for the business itself. Bonfatto’s is located at 410 W. High St. in Bellefonte. The post Fourth Generation Takes Over Bellefonte Restaurant appeared first on StateCollege.com.
