The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) in Lake Charles, LA, is hosting Sheriff Tony Mancuso's Reality Check summer sessions for teens. These sessions aim to provide teenagers aged 14 and older with essential skills for adulthood. The program is free of charge.
Free Fiber Optics Technician Training Offered to Calcasieu and Cameron Parish Residents
SOWELA Technical Community College, in partnership with Venture Global, is offering a free Fiber Optics Technician training program for residents of Calcasieu and Cameron Parish. The program starts on Monday, June 24, and runs daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at SOWELA’s Main Campus in Lake Charles, LA.
Local Achievers Honored: McNeese Awards Honorary Degrees to Distinguished Alumni
McNeese State University held its 162nd commencement ceremony on May 10 at the McNeese Legacy Center, where it awarded honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees to two notable alumni, U.S. District Judge James D. Cain Jr. and ASM Global Executive Vice President Doug Thornton. University President Dr. Daryl V. Burckel stated that these honorary degrees are the highest honors the university awards, acknowledging significant contributions to the university and the state of Louisiana.

(Des Moines) The Iowa High School Athletic Association released its 2024 State Track and Field qualifiers list on Friday afternoon.
