St. Paul Resident, Nicholas J. Smith, Sentenced to 30 Months and Ordered to Pay $2.8 Million Restitution
Nicholas J. Smith, a resident of St. Paul, has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison. A federal judge found him guilty of making a false statement on a loan or credit application in 2018. Smith is also ordered to pay $2.8 million in restitution.
Support Local Veterans: Attend Parsons High School's Honor Flight Breakfast Fundraiser
Jackson Fugate, a public relations student at Labette Community College, is working with Parsons High School's Honor Flight to publicize their upcoming breakfast fundraiser. The event, featuring biscuits and gravy, is set for Saturday, April 20, from 7 to 10 a.m. at the school's cafeteria. The community is encouraged to attend and support the Honor Flight trip.
Upcoming Road Repairs in April to Affect Traffic in Multiple Local Counties
The week of April 22 the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) expects to start a mudjacking project that includes various locations in Allen, Bourbon, Coffey, Franklin, Greenwood, Labette, Miami, Neosho, Osage and Wilson counties. Mudjacking improves road-to-bridge transitions by using polyurethane foam to raise and level concrete bridge approach slabs and highway and shoulder panels. Neosho County Unemployment Rate Rises to 4% in February 2024
The state of Kansas and Neosho County both saw unemployment increases during February 2024. The jobless rate for Neosho County in February was 4%, up from 3.4% recorded in January. Of the 6,124 people eligible to work, 5,881 had jobs and 243 did not.Visit here for more details.
Local Student's 'Pages of Possibility' Campaign Promotes Reading and Library Participation at Olsons Ace Hardware
Bella Dominguez, a Public Relations student at Labette Community College, is working with the Parsons Public Library and Olsons Ace Hardware on a campaign called 'Pages of Possibility.' The campaign's goal is to share information about the library and the benefits of reading for children. From April 15 to 18, there will be an information table at Olsons Ace Hardware to promote the campaign and the library.
