Memory of 1964-65 Albany Red Devils lives on with watchalong event
ALBANY — If you win in a small town, you’ll be remembered for an eternity. Although the school closed its doors for good shortly after, the 1964-65 Albany Red Devils basketball squad will never be forgotten in Athens County. A team that finished the season 26-2 with a trip to the state semifinals at St. John Arena in Columbus, Albany captured the hearts of a small farm town in Southeast Ohio with the memories lasting to this day. ...
ACBDD and Beacon School celebrate 2024 graduate
Beacon School and the Athens County Board of Developmental Disabilities (ACBDD) announces this year’s graduate — Alexis Highley. The milestone was made official during her graduation ceremony on May 17, in the school’s gymnasium. Highley, 21, has an easy-going personality with an infectious laugh, according to her teacher Samantha Dunlap. She loves music, dancing and socializing. She also has an interest in working and has been developing her skills during her time at Beacon. After graduation, Highley plans to continue working with a supported employment agency, spending time at home, exploring community engagement opportunities, and enjoying her hobbies.
