Small but mighty Erie-Ottawa airport to receive a major upgrade
PORT CLINTON — Small, but mighty. Those are the words airport Director Clay Finken uses to describe the Erie-Ottawa International Airport near Port Clinton. The numbers tell the story. In 2020, the airport logged over 54,000 aircraft operations, with “operations” defined as the total number of take-offs, landings, and touch-and-gos (training maneuvers where an aircraft lands on the runway, accelerates, and takes off again). Mr. Finken has no doubt that the little airport between the Sandusky Bay and Lake Erie has just as many operations as ever, if not more.
