Girls track & field: Major PRs in Union County lead epic Week 8 performances
Week 8 was nothing short of amazing for the Garden State’s girls track and field stars. We saw a parade of PRs with most of the bunch coming from Tuesday and Wednesday’s Union County Championships at Hub Stine Field. The sports complex in Plainfield is home to some of the state’s fastest and furthest numbers of the spring, but the entire state had representation this past week.
Staten Island stays on winning path as homers lead to 12-7 victory
YORK, Pa. -- The Staten Island FerryHawks are back in first place after hitting their way to a 12-7 victory over the York Revolution at WellSpan Park on Sunday. It was another strong offensive performance for Staten Island. Robert Brooks’ two-homer, five-RBI performance led the way for the FerryHawks. Ben Norman’s bat stayed hot, going 3 for 5 with two RBI. Nate Scantlin went 2 for 6 with two RBI, Taylor Motter went 3 for 5 with an RBI and Pablo Sandoval contributed with a 2-for-5, two-RBI performance.
