Mooks flag footballers compete in state tourney
The Mooks girls flag football team got eliminated from the state championship tournament by South Salem High School on Saturday, May 11, falling by a score of 45-7. South Salem went on to win all three games on Saturday to claim the state title. Tillamook advanced to the championship tournament by winning district one, which included Seaside and Astoria. Tillamook Bay Community College Advances Local Healthcare Education with New Building Project
The Tillamook Bay Community College (TBCC) Board of Education has selected Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company (KNCC) as the general contractor for the new Healthcare Education Building. KNCC won the contract with a bid of $17.550 million, which was the lowest and within the project's budget. The bids were opened on May 7.

Lincoln, Tillamook counties to receive Secure Rural Schools Funds
Lincoln and Tillamook counties will share in $47.7 million being sent to Oregon in federal payments under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act (SRS) for schools and road maintenance, youth job training, wildfire prevention, watershed restoration and habitat conservation. Tillamook students compete at state chess tournament
On Friday, April 12, three local chess teams competed at the annual Chess for Success State Tournament at the Portland Expo Center. Nehalem Elementary competed in the K-5 division, finishing 5th out of 38 teams, with a total of 239 players competing. Recent design modifications to the Cannon Beach Elementary School rejuvenation project have shaved around $800,000 off the project’s budget.
