Did you know that New England is home to gold-panning hop spots?. Gold-panning is the act of finding gold among other rocks. Gold is about seven times heavier than other rocks of a similar size. Using a screen and a bucket, you can shuffle around a pile of small rocks in the river bed, and be left with little gold pieces to keep or turn into real cash.
Here’s When and Where the Big Cicada Emergence Will Occur in Massachusetts
A hot news item in the media lately is the current cicada emergence in the Midwest and Southeast. One of the big reasons for all of this coverage is the fact that the 13-year Brood XIX and 17-year Brood XIII are emerging at the same time which will be an event for the history books as this hasn't occurred since 1803. While 2024 may be remembered for many things this year will certainly be remembered as an ultra-rare double-brood year.
Today, Judge Caprio announced he has completed his last radiation treatment after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late 2023.
Today, Judge Caprio announced he has completed his last radiation treatment after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late 2023. The beloved Rhode Islander celebrated by “ringing the bell”, a tradition to mark the end of treatment. This tradition was started by Irve Le Moyne, a rear admiral in the U.S. Navy, who had been undergoing radiation for cancer. Rear Admiral Le Moyne created the “ringing the bell” to follow a Navy tradition of ringing a bell to signify when the job was complete. At his last treatment he brought a bell and rang it multiple times and left it as a donation. The hospital hung the bell and a plaque on a wall saying: “Ring this bell Three times well Its toll to clearly say, My treatment’s done This course is run And I am on my way!” — Irve Le Moyne Congratulations, Judge! Best of luck… 🙏🏼❤️ #whatsgoingoninrhodeisland #judgecaprio.

The #1 Most Snake-Infested Lake in Massachusetts Has 14 Species
One summer activity I particularly enjoy is swimming. I hope to get some swim time this year as I tend to get busy and before I know it summer is over. When I was a kid, my parents would take me swimming at a few different lakes including Onota Lake in Pittsfield, Windsor Lake in North Adams, Cold River in Charlemont, and Wahconah Falls in Dalton. I love swimming in natural, cold water.
