Brood XIX cicadas emerge in Hanover and Brunswick Counties in Virginia
The 13-year-old Brood XIX cicada has appeared in two Virginia counties. WDBJ7 says its mating sound annoys Hanover County and Brunswick County residents, but it poses no threat to humans. It will, however, damage farmers' crops.
