Invasive spotted lanternfly infestation confirmed in Mass. town
Millbury is dealing with an infestation spotted lanternflies, a highly invasive insect that preys on trees and woody plants, officials said in a statement. Spotted lanternflies attacks trees and other woody plants by feeding on their sap, according to the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR). The pests can sometimes affect grape, wine, and maple syrup production due to the type of vegetation they attack, according to the MDAR.
Picture perfect: New trash bins in South Gardner decorated to show off best of Chair City
The new trash receptacles along East Broadway in South Gardner are now picture perfect. As part of a city-wide beautification project, four new trash containers have been decorated with vivid photographs displaying scenic views from around the Chair City. Worcester’s Exchange Street to host farmer’s market — food, music and beer
Fresh produce, fish, maple syrup and other goods from farms and businesses will be featured on Worcester’s Exchange Street next week for a brand-new farmers’ market. The Market on Exchange farmers market will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13, and during that time, the entire street will be shut off from traffic.
