Kerry Baswell newest Cullman County ADA
CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County District Attorney’s Office has a new assistant district attorney. Cullman County DA Champ Crocker recently announced the hiring of Kerry Baswell, who began the job May 17, 2024. “Prior to joining this office, Mr. Baswell served as an assistant district attorney in the 19th Judicial Circuit of Alabama (Autauga, Chilton and Elmore counties),” Crocker said. “It takes skilled personnel to clear the backlog, and I am confident that ADA Baswell is equipped to help us do that.” Baswell is a graduate of Cullman High School, Auburn University and Birmingham School of Law. When he isn’t working, Baswell enjoys spending time with his family and coaching youth sports. Baswell joins the other Cullman County ADAs, Tina Burgett, Nathan Brock and Greg Johnson. CCPS Kindergarteners perform ‘Lemonade!’
CULLMAN, Ala. – Kindergartners at Cullman City Primary School on Tuesday, May 21, presented “Lemonade!” a 20-minute musical for friends and family to mark the end of a notable year. The early learners had the chance to try out their practiced stage presence and perform the classic “Lemonade!” in the school’s newly constructed gymnasium. Cullman County Commission moves toward airport expansion
CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Commission at its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, May 21, approved plans for engineering services for the reconstruction of the apron and hangars to be constructed on a new taxiway at Cullman Regional Airport. Airport Director Ben Harrison said to the commission, “What we’re asking you for is the engineering services and design on this project,” Said Harrison, “The reason we’re trying to do this right now is we don’t want to start digging in late September or late October. 8 Cullman County seniors participate in North Alabama Academy of Craft Training signing day
CULLMAN, Ala. – Eight seniors from Cullman County accepted positions with various companies at the inaugural North Alabama Academy of Craft Training (ACT) signing day recently. “Join me in celebrating them for their decision to earn a skill and enter the workforce after high school graduation,” said ACT Education Director Haynes Riddle. CCBOE: 99.3% of third graders reading at or above grade level
CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Board of Education (CCBOE) at its monthly meeting Monday, May 20, heard a very positive update from Superintendent Dr. Shane Barnette regarding the systems’ third graders. This school year is the first for the retention portion of the Alabama Literacy Act, which was passed in 2019. Essentially, third graders not reading at grade level by this August could be held back.
