Opelousas Native Set to Be First Graduate of McNeese's Reginald F. Lewis Scholars Program
Isaiah Johnson, a student at McNeese State University, is set to be the first graduate from the Reginald F. Lewis Scholars Program. This program, started by the University of Louisiana System in 2021, aims to support Black male students across its nine institutions by offering study abroad opportunities, internships, and networking events.

Local Leaders Shine: Ville Platte's Samuel Gil Named Mr. McNeese, Among Others Honored in 2024 Spring Court
McNeese State University has announced its Spring 2024 Court, which includes a diverse group of students recognized for their leadership and academic achievements. Samuel Gil, a senior in mass communication from Ville Platte, has been named Mr. McNeese. Gil is the president of the Student Government Association, a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and the Honors College. He also serves on the Louisiana Board of Regents, representing student interests.
