BGSU trio grateful to help establish winning culture within baseball program
BOWLING GREEN — The 2024 Bowling Green State University baseball season was significant in numerous ways to those who were involved with the program. For Rigo Ramos, Jack Krause, and Tyler Ross, it was perhaps a little more special. “There’s been a lot of ups and downs, mostly downs. But, with this year being the final year for me, Tyler Ross, Jack Krause, the three guys who were here back in 2020 when the program got cut, it just means a little bit more,” said Ramos, a 2019 Archbold High School graduate. “The day we clinched the [Mid-American Conference] championship at Eastern [Michigan], it was cool but it didn’t quite settle in until after the fact.

FINDLAY - Oak Harbor softball doesn't believe there's a pitcher out there it can't hit. Liberty-Benton eliminated in Division III district final baseball loss to Coldwater
ELIDA, Ohio — Coldwater shortstop Baylen Blockberger fielded a grounder off the bat of Liberty-Benton’s Ashton Crawford and fired to first base. The throw pulled Troy Weigel off the bag, but he swung his glove around and tagged Crawford before he got to first. Eagles’ skipper Matt Rader was quick to question the out, one batter into the game, asking to consider the opinions of the rest of the umpire crew. The out stood as called. And, by the end of Saturday’s Division III district final at Ed Sandy Field, Coldwater had defeated Liberty-Benton, 12-3.
Anthony Wayne softball tops Perrysburg for regional title
CLYDE, Ohio — The third-ranked Anthony Wayne Generals will make their third trip to the Division I state softball semifinals in four years after taking a 9-1 victory over eighth-ranked Northern Lakes League rival Perrysburg in Friday’s regional final at Clyde High School’s Joe Wilson Field. The Generals (29-1), who have posted a 114-12 overall record since 2021, will face second-ranked Pataskala Watkins Memorial (30-1) in a D-I state semifinal next Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Firestone Stadium in Akron. “This is an incredible accomplishment for these seniors, AW coach Ron Myers said. “They're playing their hearts out right now, and we're running on all eight cylinders. We've peaked at the right time of year. “When you get to the final four in the state, though, everybody is great. These seniors are great kids, and they're fun to be around. I'm going to enjoy having one more week with them.”
