91-year-old woman killed in Wilkes County crash
WILKES COUNTY, N.C. — A crash in Wilkes County on Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a 91-year-old woman from Ronda, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Edith Roberts Luffman was riding as a passenger in a 2007 Ford Fusion driven by her sister, 84-year-old Clara Roberts Adams. The Fusion was traveling northwest on Hoots Road when it failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign abd was struck by a 1996 Ford F-250 traveling southwest on Austin Little Mountain Road, according to a press release.
Deadly crash causing delays on I-77 in Mooresville
IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Traffic is backed up for miles on Interstate 77 due to a fatal crash in southern Iredell County. Multiple crews responded to a crash on the northbound side of I-77 near Exit 31 for Langtree Road around 3 p.m. As of 3:30 p.m., four of five lanes are closed. Traffic is stretching back into Davidson and northern Mecklenburg County.
