The 42-year-old man who was shot after Pierce County deputies responded to a domestic-dispute call in Tacoma in June has been officially identified.

Jonathan Luksan died from a gunshot wound to the torso on June 19 near the 4800 block of 33rd Avenue Court East. His manner of death is a homicide, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Deputies responded at 11:49 p.m. to a domestic-violence call involving an argument among family members at a mobile home park. The 911 caller said their brother had a knife, The News Tribune reported.

Deputies contacted the man at 12:07 a.m. He ran to a shed on the property. Deputies reported, “Shots fired,” over the radio at 12:11 a.m. after the man was struck, the story said.

Deputies applied a chest-seal bandage to the man, and he was taken to a local hospital. No one else was injured.

The man succumbed to his injuries on June 21 at the hospital, a News Tribune story reported.

The Pierce County Force Investigation Team took over the investigation. The deputies involved were placed on administrative leave per the department’s policies.
