Alcohol Banned at These Lake Tahoe Hotspots During Fourth of July Weekend
Planning to celebrate the Fourth of July with a beer on the beach at Lake Tahoe? Be prepared for some restrictions. Alcohol is banned at three of Lake Tahoe’s most popular beaches for the holiday. Officials have prohibited alcohol at Nevada Beach and Zephyr Cove Resort on July Fourth. Additionally, public consumption is banned at Chambers Landing in Tahoma for the entire holiday weekend, from July 3-7.
Some California cities are choosing drone shows over fireworks
Fireworks and the Fourth of July have always seemed like a package deal. But in recent years, some cities are opting for drone shows instead. These shows use groups of drones to create formations in the sky — like a bald eagle, or California’s iconic grizzly bear. It’s a light show that’s similar to fireworks, but without the smoke and noise. Organizers of these shows often explain the swap as an environmental one that comes with less pollution and trash than fireworks.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — South Lake Tahoe is doubling down on Fourth of July festivities, celebrating the holiday on July 3 and July 4. Complimenting the big parade this year is the inaugural Fourth of July Airshow over the lake. However, there'll also be more than planes in the sky as well, because Edgewood Tahoe will have their fireworks show visible from all over town.

South Tahoe Public Utility District receives Transparency Certificate of Excellence
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – For the fourth time, the South Tahoe Public Utility District has received the District Transparency Certificate of Excellence through the California Special District Association. This certificate requires compliance in three best practice areas for transparency including the Brown Act, website, and public outreach. The application was an extensive process, consisting of 54 documents and 158 pages that were reviewed by representatives of two peer agencies, Tahoe City Public Utility District and North Tahoe Public Utility District.
