‘Tom Booze’ is a winemaker who looks just like Tom Cruise

Meet "Tom Booze" - an English winemaker who has gone viral because of his striking similarity to Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise .

Kieron Atkinson, 46, often gets mistaken for the action movie star when out and about but has now shot to internet stardom after a video of him went viral.

The founder of the English Wine Project has earned himself the new nickname Tom Booze after people highlighted his resemblance to the actor on social media.

And much like Maverick himself, Kieron also has links to the Armed Forces and served in Afghanistan during nine years of service with the Light Dragoons regiment.

He was even asked whether he was used as a stunt double for the 62-year-old after he was spotted filming at Middleton Mine, in Derbyshire, in March.

Kieron, of Darley Abbey, Derbys., has now joked a career as a professional lookalike might await him beyond winemaking and being a vineyard tenant farmer.

The married dad-of-three said: "I'd had the odd comment in the past but when this video was posted people began making the link more and more.

"It was all good fun and I find it really funny, there's certainly worse people to be compared to but my wife is not buying it.

"My mates all think I've got a big head now but the wife is keeping me in check. She reminds me I'm being compared to a man in his 60s at 42.

"My children think its hilarious too, when we were watching the Olympic closing ceremony they were like 'Look Dad, it's you'.

"Personally I don't see the similarity myself but it is getting to a stage where I am getting stopped being told I look like him at work or when I am out with family.

"So maybe I do look like him. There are definitely worse people I could look like, so I'll take Tom Cruise .

"I'm a fan of his movies, so I am very flattered with the comparison."

The video which prompted the many comparisons was posted by Naked Wines, a wine distributor Kieron works with alongside his own brand Mills and Hills.

Commenting on the video, one web user wrote: "I did not know Tom Cruise made wine in Derbyshire".

Another added "Tom Cruise talking about wine" and a third said: "I was just thinking you looked like Tom Cruise."

One person said: "1990: we'll have flying cars in 2024. 2024: British Tom Cruise selling wine."

After his nine-year service in the Army, Kieron completed a wine production course in 2010 and became a technical advisor for the UK branch of the Rothschilds.

He then took over the vineyard at Renishaw Hall in North Derbyshire in June 2011 and also ran a winery in Darley Abbey.

Kieron added: "Maybe a career awaits me as a Tom Cruise lookalike in the future, who knows."
