Miami football QB transfers to HBCU champion FAMU

A former University of Miami football quarterback is the latest headed to the defending HBCU national champions, FAMU.

Bryson Martin, a former preferred walk-on at Miami, is transferring to Florida A&M.

Martin is a quarterback from Clearview, FL who was a part of the 2022 recruiting class. He garnered interest from FCS power North Dakota State as well as FBS teams like Toledo and Colorado State as well as a pre-Deion Sanders Colorado program. Toledo, however, was his lone offer according to 247Sports.

Ultimately, Martin decided to walk on for Miami football. However, he never saw the field for the Hurricanes.

So how he trades his Hurricane orange-and-green for Rattler orange-and-green.

He joins a Florida A&M program looking to find its next quarterback after two-year starter Jeremy Moussa finished his career in 2023. Moussa left big shoes to fill, winning SWAC Player of The Year honors while leading FAMU to the SWAC title, a win in the Celebration Bowl and an HBCU national championship.

The quarterback room includes Junior Muratovic, who started one game last season. It also includes Trey Fisher, son of former Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher, who has been with the program for several years. Former Florida Atlantic quarterback Daniel Richardson joins the program as a graduate transfer this fall as does former North Carolina A&T quarterback Alston Hooker.

Florida A&M will open up the season in Atlanta against Norfolk State in the MEAC-SWAC classic.
