Tallahassee crime: Police investigating separate stabbing, shooting, one at Circle K

The Tallahassee Police Department says it's investigating two separate stabbing and shooting incidents over the weekend.

Early Monday morning, officers responded to a man who was suffering from a stab wound to the chest in the parking lot of a McDonald's on West Tennessee Street, according to an incident alert.

The victim told police that the stabbing happened elsewhere, but "officers were not able to locate a crime scene after canvassing nearby areas."

"At this time, it is unclear where exactly the stabbing took place, as well as the circumstances that led up to the incident," TPD said. "This investigation remains ongoing."

Before that, a man was shot early Sunday morning inside his car at a Circle K parking lot, according to TPD.

Officers were "flagged down" by the man around 4:45 a.m. at the gas station, at 3433 Crawfordville Road.

"At this time, it is unclear the circumstances that led up to the shooting, and the case remains open and active," TPD said.

Both of the victims from the separate incidents were treated for their injuries.

Sunday's shooting is the latest outbreak of gunfire in the capital city and county this year.

So far in 2024, 15 people have died and 30 people have been injured in 38 serious shootings in the capital city and county, according to the Tallahassee Democrat's rolling analysis of gun violence .

Almost a year ago, the same Circle K was the epicenter of another serious shooting that injured another man.

On July 13, 2023, TPD arrived at the gas station after a security guard employed by A-1 Top Notch Security shot a man during an argument about a trespassing and criminal mischief complaint that turned violent, according to previous reporting .

These two instances are among a string of gun violence that has occurred at the gas station chain over the years. Since January 2021, there have been at least eight other serious shootings linked to a Circle K in Tallahassee:

• Jan. 1, 2021: A man shot and injured a woman at the Circle K on Crawfordville Highway.
• March 23, 2021: A man was killed in a gun battle at the Circle K on Apalachee Parkway.
• June 8, 2021: Three people in a car opened fire on the Circle K on Capital Circle Southwest.
• Jan. 6, 2022: A man was shot and killed in a road rage incident at the Circle K on Thomasville road.
• Feb. 12, 2022: A man was shot and injured in the parking lot of the Circle K on West Pensacola Street.
• May 29, 2022: A man was injured in a shooting at the Circle K on Lake Bradford Road.
• June 16, 2022: A man was injured in a drive-by shooting at the Circle K on North Monroe Street.
• May 17, 2024: A man was shot and killed outside of the Circle K on North Monroe Street.
