Quincy, FL - A Florida man has been arrested on charges of making threats against President Joe Biden just days after an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Florida announced that 39-year-old Jason Patrick Alday was apprehended on Monday by the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force and the U.S. Secret Service.

Alday faces charges related to sending threatening communications and making threats against President Biden and federal officials.

According to court records, the Secret Service was contacted by an intake coordinator at the Apalachee Center mental health facility in Tallahassee in June.

During his intake, Alday allegedly expressed a desire to kill President Biden, saying, "I don't like President Biden. I want to kill him, slit his throat."

Secret Service agents interviewed Alday on July 1st at his parents' home, where he denied making the threatening statements but admitted his dislike for the president.

On July 11th, the Secret Service discovered a social media account, believed to belong to Alday, that had posted several threatening statements about President Biden and racist death threats towards the Secret Service agent who interviewed him.

The account was linked to Alday through his name, address, and date of birth.

Alday was taken into custody and is facing prosecution by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Welch.
