    DJ Uiagalelei.

The Florida State Seminoles have put a lot of hope and trust in quarterback DJ Uiagalelei.

A former five-star recruit ranked as the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the 2024 class by 247Sports, Uiagalelei didn't work out at his first destination in Clemson, but he experienced a career revival of sorts last season as the starting quarterback at Oregon State.

He threw for 2,638 yards and 21 touchdowns with seven interceptions and was good enough to attract the Seminoles' attention in the transfer portal.

FSU now is asking him to replace Heisman Trophy candidate Jordan Travis — which will be no small task — but recently speaking at the ACC Football Kickoff event (h/t On3 ), head coach Mike Norvell said he's happy with how Uiagalelei has made the transition to the Seminoles' offense this offseason.

“He’s done a wonderful job," Norvell said. "And it’s good, through rule changes now for us to be able to be on the field while they’re going on air and be able to operate through plays and at least be able to build upon that timing with the receivers and routes on air and things like that. It was good to see his growth."

“You see the confidence in the rhythm, the timing. You can see those relationships continuing to grow with all the different skill players, just even in how he’s communicating, the confidence and understanding of what we’re asking him to do. So he’s done an incredible job,” Norvell continued. “I mean you see his body – carrying his bodyweight as good as I’ve seen him. And his movements and just the conditioning aspect of all of it. He’s really done a great job of leading by example and excited to see him take the field.”

As mentioned, Uigalelei has the pedigree to be a star at the college level and now he has plenty of experience learning through the ups and downs. The hope in Tallahassee is that he's now surrounded by incredible talent on the offensive side of the ball as well as one of the up-and-coming coaches in college football in Norvell.

If he's looking good and feeling good, Uiagalelei may be able to finally reach his true potential as a quarterback.
