Popular Cuyahoga Falls bridge closes for the summer for construction
CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio — Those heading to Blossom Music Center soon may want to plan their trip, as a popular bridge in Cuyahoga Falls is closed for the rest of the summer. The Steels Corners Bridge eastbound has been closed on E. Steels Corners Road West of the State Route 8 interchange. The Summit County Engineer's website states the closure is to allow crews to replace bridge expansion joints, overlay the bridge deck with concrete and more.
Akron superintendent meets with van drivers ahead of Monday board meeting
Independent van drivers met earlier this week with Akron Public Schools Superintendent Michael Robinson to discuss the state of their employment. Several people who were present told Signal Akron that Robinson and the administration are preparing to present the Akron Board of Education with multiple options regarding who will provide van transportation to and from the district’s learning centers for students with special needs and those who are experiencing homelessness. Monday’s meeting, which the administration would not confirm to Signal Akron, lasted about 30 minutes and was scant on details.

City of Akron to Host Innerbelt Engagement Event at House 330 with Four Planning Firm Finalists
Akron, Ohio, July 18, 2024 — On Thursday, July 25 from 5-8:30pm the City of Akron is hosting an Innerbelt engagement event for the community to meet and hear presentations from the four finalists the city has selected to complete a Reconnecting Communities Master Plan for the Akron Innerbelt study area. The four experienced urban design consultant firms are Sasaki, PORT, Cooper Carry, and Agency. The four firms will each have an opportunity to present to the community about their qualifications and their ideas for the Innerbelt.
