Lightning to Sign Former First-Rounder to PTO

According to Andy Strickland, the Tampa Bay Lightning are signing forward Logan Brown to a professional tryout (PTO) contract.

Per Strickland, Brown is fully healthy and has trained with St. Louis Blues star Jordan Kyrou after receiving hip surgery and missing the entirety of the 2023-24 campaign.

Brown was under contract with the Lightning last season, but his hip injury did not allow him to play a single game. Yet, now that he is good to go, he has been given a golden opportunity to try to earn another deal with the Bolts.

Brown, 26, last played in the NHL during the 2022-23 season with the St. Louis Blues. In 30 games with the Central Division club, the 2016 first-round pick recorded two goals, six points, and 22 hits.

With the Lightning needing more forward depth, there is no harm in them taking a look at a former top prospect at training camp. If the 6-foot-6 forward impresses and earns a deal for the 2024-25 season, he would provide the Lightning with another potential bottom-six option for their NHL roster.

In 99 career NHL games split between the Ottawa Senators and Blues, Brown has seven goals and 26 points.
